John Peel Tshirt at Glasto!
It’s nice to see that for once Glastonbury wasn’t only about the mud and the great bands. Not only was it mainly sunny and hot but Glasto also had an ethical, charitable edge to it. That’s because this year was about one of Glastonbury’s legends, John Peel, and a charity he had long supported during his life, Shelter. The radio 1 presenter had been a regular for many years at the festival and when he died, one of the stages was actually renamed after him. The John Peel stage was born reaffirming his status of ‘legend’. And it seems his legacy lives on. At Glasto 2009, John Peel was once again in company of the hot new talents and famous rock stars as he appeared on a tshirt many of them were wearing. The charity tshirt in question has a reworked portrait by Simon Danby of John Peel with the slogan ‘Great band…Great session…’ which comes in turquoise, grey and pink! The tshirts were created through the collaboration of Komodo, an ethical fashion brand, the John Peel stage at Glasto and Shelter, the charity for the homeless. Now that’s what we like! Ethical rock fashion with a story and a good cause! All for £25 (and remember, 20% of that goes to Shelter!). Buy one at komodo.co.uk or roughtrade.com.
